An Ennis Councillor believes that a second Lidl store in the county town will limit the numbers travelling to Limerick for their grocery shopping.
Clare County Council granted the German supermarket giant permission for a store and residential development at the junction of the Clare Road and Toberteascain Road.
The €20m development will create 30 permanent jobs, 100 jobs during construction and will include 20 apartments, a café and playground.
Despite objectors citing concerns over the store’s potential to act as a counter attraction to Ennis, Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Daly has been telling Clare FM’s Rebecca O’Sullivan that it’s a huge vote of confidence for the town.
