Ennis Chapter Of Grow Remote Says Overhauling Work From Home Legislation ‘A Step In The Right Direction’

A member of the Ennis chapter of Grow Remote believes the move to overhaul legislation allowing employees to request to work from home is a ‘step in the right direction’.

Work on legislation affording employees the right to request to work remotely began in 2020, following the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic.

An earlier version of the legislation, approved by the Cabinet at the beginning of the year, gave employers the ability to refuse an employee’s request to work remotely on at least 13 different grounds.

 

The state is now looking at reducing the number of reasons for refusal, which Paul Ellingstad, a remote worker in Clarecastle, is welcoming.
