Ennis Chamber President Says ‘Timing Is Wrong’ For Commercial Rates Increases

The President of Ennis Chamber claims ‘the timing is wrong’ for an increase to Clare’s commercial property rates.

Councillors here voted on Friday to hike the rates by 3.8 percent in 2022 – the first time they will rise in 13 years.

Council CEO Pat Dowling told representatives at that meeting that the economic outlook for the local authority is ‘uncertain’ next year and that an increase in commercial rates will help ease that challenge.
