The president of Ennis Chamber is welcoming the introduction of an auto-enrolment pension scheme, but feels it’s coming at a bad time for businesses.
The government this week approved the next steps for laws to create auto enrolment pensions, with the plan sent to an Oireachtas Committee for pre-legislative scrutiny.
The general scheme would see 750,000 people currently without a pension plan entered into one, with employers matching contributions.
Bank of Ireland Manager and Ennis Chamber President, Colin Ryan, says the timing of the move comes against the backdrop of a difficult period for employers.
