Ennis Chamber Concerned Over Pedestrianisation Of O’Connell Street

Ennis Chamber is concerned that the padestrianisation of O'Connell Street for four days over the Christmas period will lead to access issues in the town.

The decision was made in the interest of padestrian safety on key shopping days, similar to the same period last year, however Clare County Council says the dates may be re-considered in the event of extreme weather conditions.

The closures will be in effect on the weekend of the 19th and 20th of December and again on Wednesday and Thursday the 23rd and 24th.

CEO Rita McInerney says the Chamber proposed a similar initiative on two days over the Christmas shopping period but she feels four days is too much.
