Ennis Chamber CEO Worries Pay Won’t Increase With Inflation

The CEO of the Ennis Chamber fears businesses won’t be able to increase pay in line with inflation.

A recent study from the Economic Social Research Institute has found that, after tax disposable income fell in 2021 for the poorest 20% of the workforce in Ireland.

The ESRI has recommended that pay rises of 14% would be needed by the end of this year, to keep salaries in line with inflation.

Ennis Chamber CEO, Margaret O’Brien, expects that many struggling businesses won’t be able to meet the cost.
