Ennis Chamber CEO Says Change In Close Contact Rules Will Keep Businesses Operating

The CEO of Ennis Chamber believes a change in guidelines for those who are close contacts of confirmed COVID cases will allow local businesses to keep their doors open.

Close contacts who have had a booster and don’t have symptoms of the virus will no longer have to isolate under plans going to Cabinet this morning.

The isolation period for those who test positive for Covid is also to be standardised at 7 days regardless of whether someone is boosted or not, while people who have a positive antigen test won’t need a further PCR test to confirm it.

People will be deemed to have boosted immunity if they’ve had a booster shot or have had a full initial course of vaccines and have caught Covid in the last three months.

Ennis Chamber CEO Margaret O Brien says it’s been difficult for smaller businesses to manage.
