Ennis Chamber CEO Says ‘Bumper’ Tax Take Should See Extension Of Business Supports

The CEO of Ennis Chamber says a ‘bumper’ tax take from the State should see inflationary supports for businesses extended further.

A five billion euro surplus was recorded in 2022, with the Government relying heavily on corporation tax receipts to balance the books.

Cuts in VAT and excise, as well as the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme, which cost a combined €2.2bn, are the main measures due to expire at the end of February.

 

Ennis Chamber CEO Margaret O Brien says while local businesses had a good Christmas, further State intervention may be required over the coming months.
