The CEO of Ennis Chamber fears the introduction of a mandatory living wage could be the final straw for struggling businesses.

The Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has outlined his proposal to scrap the minimum wage and replace it with a living wage by 2026.

Work towards this would begin next year and will see employee’s hourly pay calculated at 60% of median wages.

 

CEO of Ennis Chamber, Margaret O’Brien says while it’s the right thing to do, it’s coming at time that’s beneficial for politicians and not businesses.
