Ennis businesses receive signed commitments to save local jobs

 

Clare’s General Election candidates have given their commitment to work to save jobs in County Clare following a public meeting with Ennis business representatives.

A crowd of around 300 people made up of local business owners and employees packed the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis last night to hear 10 out of Clare’s 16 election candidates outline plans to help struggling businesses and to save jobs.

It’s part of an initiative by the Ennis Development Forum and Ennis Chamber who now have a signed commitment from the candidates to work with local businesses if elected to Dáil Eireann, starting with another meeting four weeks after the election.

The meeting was addressed by many concerned business people including Debbie Harrington who’s about to close down the Little Silvermines Jewellers in the market in Ennis.

She blamed the downfall of her 30 year old business on commercial rates, parking problems and crippling rents
