An Ennis builder says work has dried up due to the rising cost of materials.

It comes as the government are to explore proposals to compensate contractors if the price of supplies inflates by more than 15%.

Ciaran Breen of Ciaran Breen Construction in Ennis predicts trade won’t recover to normal activity levels until the middle of next year.

Ciaran says the demand for his services simply isn’t there.
