Ennis is to formally become a University Town with the establishment of a new Technological University in the Midlands and Mid-West.
The Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris has today confirmed that the new University will be founded to replace Limerick and Athlone Institutes of Technology.

The move will see LIT’s Ennis campus on Bindon Street falling under the remit of the new institution.
€5m in government funding has already been allocated for the project and Ennistymon Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway says it’s a great announcement from an education and business perspective.
