An Ennis-area Councillor fears that the decision to raise commercial rates in Ennis and Kilrush cannot be reversed.

The measure was included in the Council's 2016 Budget to bring rates in line with the rest of the county, but this has been widely criticised, amidst fears it will lead to the closure of many businesses struggling to get by.
Over 1040 people have signed an online petition calling for the reversal of the decision and a written petition is being compiled at businesses in the towns.
But Clarecastle Councillor Paul Murphy, who voted against the rates increase believes that once the decision is made, it cannot be overturned.
