A Clare addiction treatment centre is advising the public to drink mindfully over the festive season.
A recent Drinkaware study revealed that 55% of people who consume alcohol during the Christmas period do so to cope while 17% said they drink to get drunk.
To encourage people to be manage their drinking more carefully, Drinkaware is encouraging people to follow the SANTA acronym which stands for Serve Food, Accurate Measuring, Non-Alcoholic, Track Your Drinking and Alcohol-Free Activities.
Deputy Manager of Bushypark Addiction Treatment Centre Maedhbh Firmino da Silva Santos believes thinking critically about drinking behaviour can be a step towards a healthier relationship with the substance.
