Minister Denis Naughten had told the Dáil that he was open to visiting the West Clare facility, and it has now been confirmed that he will do so next Wednesday.

The coal-burning power plant is set to be decommissioned in 2025, and the government has been pressed to make a decision on its future.

Independent Kilmihil TD Dr. Michael Harty says the Minister wants to see what new energy generation technology can be put into Moneypoint to expand on it's lifespan.
