Secondary school students in Clare are once again striking for climate change action this afternoon.

The group, who have called themselves Fridays for Future Clare, will stage a rally at the Height in Ennis from noon, inspired by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

It’s part of a wider international protest, where teenagers have been calling on their governments to take radical action on climate change to protect the planet’s future.

The protesters will wear snorkels and life jackets to highlight the fact that if urgent action is not taken, climate breakdown will cause sea levels to rise and Ennis and other parts of Clare to be submerged within decades.
