Clare’s Green Party Senator insists bigger farmers must make a greater contribution to reducing carbon emissions than those with smaller operations.
It comes after the publication of Ireland’s first carbon budgets, with sectoral targets to be finalised in the coming weeks.
The first five-year budget will require cuts of 4.8 percent a year compared with emissions in 2018, with a yearly reduction of 8.4 percent planned after 2025.
