Man Dies In Single Vehicle Crash In East Clare

A 62-year-old year man has been killed in a single vehicle collision in East Clare.

The incident happened shortly before 3pm this afternoon on the main Whitegate to Mountshannon Road.

Gardaí and two units from the Scarriff Fire Service attended the scene of this afternoon’s collision, which claimed the life of the driver of the vehicle.

The 62 year old man is from the locality and was the sole occupant of the car.

His body is being removed from the scene this evening to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem examination.

Gardaí are advising motorists in the area that the road will remain closed for a number of hours, as they await the arrival of a forensic team to examine the scene.
