Man In His 20s Remains In Critical Condition Following Newmarket On Fergus Road Crash

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital following a road crash in Newmarket on Fergus.

Two others were seriously injured in the two-car collision at Drumline at around 6 o’clock last evening.

Emergency services were alerted just after six o’clock yesterday evening, after two cars collided at Drumline, on the old Ennis to Limerick road, close to the bottom of the slip-road at junction 9 of the M18 motorway.

Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from nearby Shannon station, along with additional resources from Ennis station were mobilised, along with a number of ambulances and Garda units.

It’s understood three men travelling in one car and the driver of the second car, a woman in her 60s, were transferred to University Hospital Limerick, where they’re being treated for their injuries.

Gardaí have confirmed that one man, aged in his 20s, remains in a critical condition in hospital this morning.

The R458 was closed overnight to facilitate a full technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, but has since been reopened.

Gardaí in Shannon are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this collision to contact them.

They’re particularly interested in speaking with any road users who may have video footage, including dash cam footage.
