A road traffic collision on the M18 near Crusheen has been cleared and the motorway fully reopened.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at around 6.00pm in the southbound lanes of the motorway at junction 15 in Crusheen. The collision occurred almost beneath the flyover between the off and on ramps.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis and Shannon stations responded to the scene along with gardaí. The National Ambulance Service was also dispatched resources to the scene.
It’s understood there were two adults and a number of children in the vehicle which collided with the crash barrier and spun around on the road. It’s believed an off-duty nurse, who came upon the scene, stopped to check whether anyone required help.
The occupants of the car escaped injury.
The road was closed for a short time while emergency services dealt with the incident and the car was recovered from the scene.
