A section of the M18 motorway in Co Clare was closed for a time this evening following a road traffic collision.
The single-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 8.00pm in the southbound carriageway just past junction 12 at Killoo. It’s understood a car collided with the central safety barrier.
National Ambulance Service paramedics; Gardaí and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis and Shannon stations respond to the incident.
The collision occurred in lane 2 and resulted in the motorway being closed southbound between junctions 12 and 11 (Dromoland). Traffic was diverted off the route at junction 12.
The male driver was assessed at the scene by ambulance paramedics but didn’t need to travel to hospital.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of that collision.
