Injured Walker Recovering In Hospital After Suffering Fall In East Clare

A walker who suffered a fall on a trail in East Clare is recovering in hospital.

The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was tasked alongside the National Ambulance Service (NAS) on Sunday to the incident on the Ballycuggaran walking trail north of Killaloe.

On arrival at the scene, Coast Guard first responders provided first-aid to the patient until the arrival of ambulance paramedics.

Once the patient had been assessed and treated, Coast Guard volunteers assisted NAS paramedics with recovering the patient from the scene to the waiting ambulance.

The patient was transferred to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

On Friday evening, the Killaloe Coast Guard unit were requested to assist the National Ambulance Service with a patient who had fallen from a horse in a remote area north of Whitegate in East Clare.

Coast Guard crews responded with 4x4s and the unit’s All-terrain vehicle (ATV).

Once on scene, Coast Guard members worked alongside Paramedics to safely secure and transport the patient to the waiting Ambulance. The patient was transferred to University Hospital Limerick for assessment and treatment.
