A Clare Government TD claims the idea of an emergency budget to address cost of living concerns is a ‘fanciful’ proposal.
It follows the Government voting down Sinn Fein’s motion on the matter in the Dáil last night, with Ministers insisting interventions won’t be made until October’s budget.

However, Clare Fianna Fail TD Cathal Crowe claims while a mini budget isn’t a good idea, a package of targeted measures should be introduced for the most vulnerable before the autumn.
The Meelick-based Deputy wants a certain amount of money that’s due to be distributed in Budget 2023 to be set aside sooner than that.
