Tusla issued eleven summonses to Clare families concerning long term school absences in the last year.
Under legislation, Principals of primary and post-primary institutions are required to report any cases in which a student has missed twenty days or more without explanation to the Education Welfare Service.

According to the Irish Examiner, The Child and Family Agency issued a total of 125 notices nationwide in 2022.
The proceedings opened last year involved cases of truancy in eight counties.
