Election Candidates Give backing To Overhaul Of Commercial Rates System

A host of Clare election candidates have given their backing for an overhaul of how rates are levied in this country.

A discussion on the commercial charge has formed part of a Business Forum Debate, organised by Ennis Chamber in conjunction with Clare FM and The Clare Champion.

Businesspeople in the town have been angered in recent months by the Council's decision to increase rates charges in 2016, and also say its link with the size of a company's property is unfair.
