Eight people are still being treated at Limerick Regional Hospital today following a chemical spill at Chemifloc in Shannon.
Two of those admitted have been described as being ill after a chlorine gas emission occurred at the plant in the Smithstown Industrial Estate while a batch of bleach was being loaded.
It happened shortly before five yesterday evening and eight units of the fire brigade from Ennis and Shannon attended the scene .
Seven people were initially taken to hospital while an eight person presented themselves at Dooradoyle in the early hours.
Clare’s Chief Fire Officer said the effected staff had to undergo decontamination procedures prior to entering the A&E
