The Mayor of Ennis says efforts will be stepped up ‘early in the new year’ to establish a long-term plan for the Ennis Market Building.
Clare County Council has re-opened the controversial building and has confirmed that a private security company has been hired on a temporary basis “to ensure that all available public car parking spaces are operational with immediate effect”.
The local authority closed the 15-space car park just over three weeks ago due to concerns about anti-social behaviour and criminality taking place on site.
Cathaoirleach of the Ennis Municipal District and Ennis Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Daly is committed to finding a long-term use for the building in the new year with the assistance of the public.
