Efforts Continue To Secure New Transatlantic Service For Shannon

High-ranking US officials are to be lobbied in the coming weeks in an effort to secure a licence that will see Norweigan Air International launch a transatlantic service from Shannon.

The low-cost carrier is seeking permission from the US authorities to fly services between Ireland and America, but has been unsuccessful in their bid to date.

Now, it's reported that Senior Management from the Dublin Airport Authority and Cork Airport will mount a diplomatic offensive in Washington and Boston ahead of the St Patrick's Day festivities.

Norweigian has a deal in place with Shannon to fly on a route to Boston, which could launch shortly after a licence is secured.
