“Eerie Sense” Around Village Of Creeslough

It’s claimed there’s an eerie sense around the village of Creeslough, as the reality of what happened there begins to sink in.

A technical examination of the scene in the Donegal village is continuing this afternoon, as Gardaí work to identify the source of the explosion that claimed 10 lives.

The bodies of the victims are slowly returning to their families, as plans are made for their funerals.

24-year-old Jessica Gallagher was the first to return to the village last night, as hundreds lined the road from Letterkenny with candles.

Her funeral will take place tomorrow morning in Creeslough.

The funeral of 49-year-old Martin McGill will take place there tomorrow afternoon, while 48-year-old James O’Flaherty will be laid to rest on Wednesday in Derrybeg.

Martin’s cousin Sharon says the events of Friday afternoon are only starting to hit home now.

A number of vigils have taken place in Donegal over the weekend, as the county comes to terms with the disaster which claimed 10 lives on Friday.

Local Journalist Michaela Clarke has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that there’s a numbness all round, but the local community are coming together to support each other.
