The groundwork for this project was laid in 2021 when the Minister for Education visited Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg.

During this trip, Minister Norma Foley, announced funding would be provided for a new halla and two Early Intervention Rooms.

The two Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Early Intervention classrooms will be the such first units in the county town, and mark a milestone in Ennis’ progression.

Finance for seven classrooms had previously been secured by the school, and will form part of the two-storey extension.

The planning permission for the expansion was lodged this August, and also included a request to develop two ball courts as well as additional staff parking.

Nearly 470 students are currently in attendance at the Gaelscoil and will benefit greatly from the facilities expanding.

Clare County Council has granted planning permission for the project subject to seven conditions.
