Clare Techers’ Rep Claims Internal Examination Won’t Prepare Students For The Real World

A Clare teachers’ representative believes introducing classroom based assessment as part of the Leaving Certificate would hinder student progression.

It comes amidst comments from the Minister for Education, Norma Foley this week that teachers marking their own students’ Leaving Certificate papers remains a target of senior cycle reform.

The call prompted the Teachers Union Of Ireland to unanimously vote in favour of a motion which would condemn any such proposal aimed at restructuring the Leaving Cert examination process at its annual convention.
