Clare’s ASTI representative says the Department of Education asking retired teachers to fill substitute teaching gaps is ‘appalling’.

Schools at second level are continuing to have issues finding substitutes in the run up to the Christmas break.

The Department has removed pension-related barriers in order to get retired teachers back into the classroom.
