The Education Minister says a multi-million euro extension unveiled at an Ennis school today will be a ‘significant’ facility for students there for years to come.
Norma Foley was in the county this morning to officially unveil a large extension at Ennis Community College / Gaelcholáiste an Chláir.
The redevelopment, which is estimated to have cost around 12.5 million euro, includes multiple classrooms, specialist rooms such as science labs and a home economics room, as well as a full-size state of the art sports hall.
It includes three separate floors and covers 4,500 square metres of teaching accommodation.
Ennis Community College / Gaelcholáiste an Chláir Principal Brian O’ Donoghue says the new facilities will allow students to fully achieve their academic potential.
The extension should be able to cater for a number of additional teachers and students, with the school already currently enrolled with pupils from more than 50 different countries.
They lined the corridor of the school’s entrance with their native flags to welcome the Minister today.
Chief Executive of the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, George O’ Callaghan, says the dual element of Irish and English language schools will be important for the entity going forward.
The Minister for Education is hailing the investment and its overall impact on young people in Ennis and surrounding areas.
