Unemployment Levels Reflect Increased Investment In The Midwest

The CEO of Shannon Chamber believes a major reduction in the number of unemployed in the Midwest, showcases increased investment from a number of indigenous, FDI and micro companies here.

Unemployment levels in Clare, Limerick and Tipperary have halved in the past three years, with fewer than than 11,000 people out of work, the lowest rate of any region in Ireland.

The total size of the region’s labour force has shrunk by 7,000 over that period, however, which could suggest that a large number of people have moved to other regions or other countries over that time.
