The President of the University of Limerick says the submission of an application to develop a new town on the Clare/Limerick border is a ‘major step forward’ for the project.
The institution, along with Clare County Council, has lodged proposals with the Government to designate lands adjoining the north campus of the University as an Economic Strategic Development Zone.
UL says if the proposal is given the green light, it could generate more than 3,500 jobs and an additional 1.7 billion euro per year for the Irish economy.
