Staycation Tax Rebate Plan ‘Out Of Touch’ – Wynne

Clare’s Sinn Féin TD has criticised the government’s proposed staycation tax rebate plan, saying it proves how ‘out of touch’ the government is when it comes to understanding people’s lives.

The tax rebate plan is expected to be part of the July stimulus package which is being launched today and forms the cornerstone of Ireland’s response to the economic downfall caused by the pandemic.

The plan will also bring clarity on the temporary wage subsidy scheme, which is supporting the salaries of over 400,000 people.

Violet-Anne Wynne says with schools hopefully reopening in September, many families won’t have the chance to staycation after August.
