SIPTU Criticises Reduction In Government’s Shannon Heritage Funding

SIPTU has condemned what it calls the government’s failure to honour its promise to support Bunratty and King John’s Castles.

The trade union says its members have been stunned that €2.6 million which had been expected will now not be provided.

The government has told Clare FM that following negotiations with Shannon Group, the actual support will be near to €550,000 but both sites will remain open until the end of this year.
