A Shannon-based recruitment consultant says businesses must ‘look in the mirror’ at the pay and conditions they provide amid significant cross sector labour shortages.
It comes after an Oireachtas Committee has heard current staff gaps in the hospitality sector aren’t due to the PUP, but because conditions in the industry had hit ‘rock bottom’.
A shortage of thousands of lorry drivers is also being described as ‘an imminent national emergency’.
