Nearly 100 People A Week Entered Mid-West Workforce In 2019

4,600 more people entered the workforce in the MidWest last year.

New CSO figures show there were 215,800 people in employment here at the end of 2019, up from just over 211,000 the year before.

That’s despite a fall of 2,000 in that figure in the three months to December.

11,100 people are still unemployed in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary, while the unemployment rate here stands at 4.9%, which is marginally higher than the national average.
