Lifeline For Avara As IDA Engages In Talks With Swiss Investor

A potential lifeline has been provided for Avara, following confirmation that the IDA is engaging in talks aimed at securing a new investor for it’s Shannon plant.

While the pharmaceutical firm was ordered into liquidation a year ago, United Metals came on board earlier this year as buyer for the site.

Since then, 21 jobs have already been lost at the site and 50 more positions are set to go by September, which would leave only 20 workers on site until October.

However the IDA is now in talks with a Swiss company with a view to having them invest in the site, potentially saving jobs.
