Fall-Off In Number Of Workers Earning Less Than Minimum Wage

There has been a fall-off in the number number of workers here who have been earning less than the minimum wage.

According to CSO, as of the end of last year, 10,900 people in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary reported earning the minimum wage or less at the end of last year.

That’s down by 4,000 at the same time the year before.

The figures show 6.5% of workers here were on the minimum wage in December, a figure that’s broadly in line with the national average.

The statistics were collated before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
