Ennis Retailer Downplays Figures Showing Significant Boost In Electrical Sales

A Clare electrical supplier has poured cold water over figures that suggest a massive boost in sales in his sector.

According to the CSO, retail overall has seen a 4.2% increase in terms of the volume of sales at the end of last month, versus September of last year.

When broken down, the volume of sales of electrical goods are said to be up 17.9% in the past 12 months but the value of those sales is up 7.4%.

The figures put this sector as head and shoulders above all others in retail; however, Eric Flynn of Ennis Electrical says retailers in his sector are reporting much lower sales.

He has been telling Clare FM’s James Mulhall that stocks may be up because of Brexit stockpiling but they’re not selling out as had been hoped.
