Of the 3,710 people that were on this county’s Live Register at the end of last month, 1,935 signed on in Ennis.

That’s nearly 1,000 less than 12 months ago in the county town’s social welfare office alone.

630 people signed on last month in Kilrush, 616 in Ennistymon and 529 in Tulla.

It’s a drop of more than 28 percent on numbers on the Live Register at the same time last year, and a 12 percent fall on September 2019 levels.

401 less people in this county were signing on at the end of September compared to a month prior.

It comes as Pandemic Unemployment Payment dependents in Clare are at their lowest levels yet.

2,319 people here were receiving the PUP as of last week, with that number expected to fall further as the country continues to open up.

It means despite the falls, more than 6,000 people in this county are continuing to claim some form of unemployment benefit.
