Clare Live Register Numbers 10% Below Pre-Pandemic Levels

Clare’s live register numbers are now ten percent below pre-pandemic levels.

The latest Central Statistics Office figures show 3,899 people in this county received some form of unemployment benefit last month.

There are now 435 fewer Clare people on the overall Live Register compared to May 2019.

Numbers in the dole queues locally have dropped by more than 30% compared to May 2020 levels, when society and the economy was in the grip of the first round of COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

It’s also an 8% fall on this time last year, suggesting an employment recovery as those restrictions have eased.

Of the 3,899 people who did sign on in Clare last month, more than half did so in Ennis.

658 people people signed on in Ennistymon’s social welfare office, while 649 people did so in Kilrush.

The remaining 578 people who received a form of unemployment benefit in this county in May got it in Tulla.

Around 55 percent of people on Clare’s Live Register are men with the remaining 45 percent women.
