East Clare Teenager Dies In Tipperary Crash

Shock is being expressed in East Clare following the death of an 18-year old from the area in a car crash in Co. Tipperary.

The accident occurred on the M7 motorway near Roscrea at around 9 o’clock last night.

The teenager was driving the car which was the only vehicle involved in the accident at Junction 22 Roscrea on the Northbound section of the M7 motorway.

The man, from a well-known family in the Scarriff area, was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to Limerick Regional Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place later today.

Two women and a man, aged between 18 and 20 and also from East Clare, were in the car at the time.  They were taken to Portlaoise Hosptial but have since been released.

Gardaí have begun their investigations of the accident, and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. The M7 will remain closed for most of the morning to allow for a technical examination.
