An East Clare TD says a seven-figure investment in Raheen Community Hospital in Tuamgraney demonstrates the HSE's commitment to elderly care here.

Contracts have been signed for the 1.2 million euro extension, which will bring Raheen more in line with HIQA standards.
It comes in light of reports that the health watchdog is operating a 'get tough' policy on public nursing homes, and after Raheen had been identified as being among 21 nursing homes nationwide which could have been threatened with closure because opf a failure to meet standards.
Deputy Michael McNamara says the public nursing homes are being maintained.
