East Clare students win recycling award

It appears students at an East Clare School are the brightest sparks in the country.

Pupils at Tuamgrany Primary School were the number one nationwide in nationwide battery recycling contest, which was organised by the European Recycling Platform.

The challenge was to recycle a million batteries in 2011 and the students in East Clare collected an equivalent of 230 AA batteries each.

Mayor Pat Hayes has presented the school with a trophy for their efforts while the pupils also received a 250 euro book voucher.
