An east Clare community will forego their gift opening on Christmas Day and take to the water for an annual tradition.
This year will be the 36th iteration of the Killaloe/Ballina Christmas Day Swim which takes place in the Two Mile Gate at 12:30pm.

The swim aims to raise funds for Killaloe/Ballina Community First Responders and Killaloe Tidy Towns, with over €14,000 raised last year.
Organiser, Johnathan McGrath, says its a great initiative to raise funds for those who do such vital work in the local area.
