It'll now be easier to get barring orders in domestic violence cases.

The Tánaiste has published the Domestic Violence Bill, following a long running campaign by a number of agencies and government figures, including former Shannon Senator Tony Mulcahy.

A law change will mean victims will be able to avoid appearing in court in person and can give evidence via video link instead.

They'll also have the right to be accompanied by a friend or family member and have great privacy protection.

It's hoped the changes will be in place by the summer.
