Too Early To Determine Cause Of Kilrush Hotel Fire

Kilrush Gardaí say it’s too early to say what may have caused a fire at a derelict hotel in the West Clare town.

Three units from the fire service, along with Gardaí, attended the callout at the former Inis Cathaigh Hotel on Lower Frances Street in the town at around 6.30pm last night.

Nobody was inside and the blaze, which broke out in the upper floors of the building, was extinguished by the early hours of this morning.

The building has lain idle for a number of years now and is intermittently used by rough sleepers.
